Where it began
A tiled-roof shop on Rangai Gowder Street. A hand-painted Tamil board above the opening, and rice stacked to the roof behind the counter.

Officially registered
Two years in, the business was formally registered. It is the date most records still carry, and the one the shop has counted from ever since.
1985
Growing with trust
Two decades on, a proper storefront. The name went up in English alongside the Tamil, above a room stacked wall to wall with rice.

Expanding our reach
A glass front, a wider shopfront, more varieties on the shelf — and a reach that carried well beyond Town Hall.

The MS mark
The oval MS emblem went up above the door. Three decades later it is still the mark customers look for on R.G. Street.
